Here are some of our reflections about the day. To take part in this GATE opportunity today means: • New friends; Socialising; Getting on with others • Working as a team • A new experience; an opportunity in life • Relying on others to keep you safe; Trusting others • Helping us rely on our ability and talent • Facing my fears; Having a go; Overcoming my fear of heights
• Becoming more confident • Believing in yourself • Having fun • Developing Leadership skills • Using courage, agility and hand-eye co-ordination
I’ve learnt to • Speak up • Help people when they are stuck • Be encouraging • Overcome my fear of heights • Work as part of a team • Co-operate • Lift people up. • Communicate with boys and talk with them; that's something I don't really do. At the end of the day the scariest thing was - the climbing wall - the flying fox - climbing up to the flying fox - coming down the flying fox - climbing up the net - the playpen - abseiling: waiting for abseiling, the first step off the edge for abseiling, looking down
The most exciting thing was - the climbing wall - rock climbing - the flying fox - coming down the flying fox - the net - the playpen - touching the buoy at the top of the playpen - abseiling - the flying weka :-) For some of us the thing that had been the scariest was also the most exciting, once we had conquered it.
:-) Parents were impressed with the level we went to in leading, cooperating, pushing ourselves further than ever before. :-) The last word goes to Dean, Missi, Will and Trianna, our cool tutors. They said, “You guys worked together and really encouraged each other. That’s awesome!”
